EMPOWERING YOU
TO LEAD WITH JOY
IN A CAREER WITH MEANING
Hi, I’m YANNIE
Yannie Fu is an executive coach, tech leader and speaker on a mission to empower aspiring leaders to find more joy and meaning at work.
With 20+ years of experience leading and managing teams in tech (Google, Chime, Instagram, Airbnb, Netflix), I’ve made multiple career pivots and big moves across the world to pursue my dream roles at mission-oriented companies that align with my personal values. I started my career in Hong Kong (where I was born), Shanghai and Singapore in brand strategy and innovation consulting. 10+ years ago, I took a leap of faith starting fresh in the Bay Area to get into tech, and started a new career as a UX researcher. I met my husband here and now have an adorable 1 year old son, while leading a team at Google.
Outside of coaching, I’m currently a UX leader at Google for one of our core revenue-driving businesses, managing research teams ranging from early career to staff researchers and leading other managers. I’m also a G2G (Googler to Googler) coach. Taking risks to learn new things, and leveraging my work to drive understanding and innovation have been ongoing themes throughout my career. For example, I started my new job at Google when I was 7 months pregnant to keep learning about new industries and audiences, and to stretch myself (and my belly!) outside my comfort zone.
I’ve interviewed many job candidates as a member of hiring committees for tech leadership roles in UX Research, Design, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing. Being a hiring manager myself, I see dozens of resumes and portfolios, and know what makes candidates stand out in the competitive job market.
I often find myself one of the few female leaders of color in leadership teams and high-stake discussions. Throughout the years, I’ve learned how to show up confidently to every conversation, be respected for my point of view, partner effectively with C-Suite, and bring my unique and authentic leadership to the table. I hope to help you find your voice too.
I’m excited to empower you to land your dream role, find more meaning and lead authentically in your career with confidence, while balancing your personal life through the power of coaching!
I was trained by the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute to listen holistically and ask thought-provoking questions to help you expand your imagination, and get clarity about what’s possible for you.
As a researcher by profession, I’m an empathetic listener and ask good questions for a living. I hope to create a safe space for you to reflect, explore, learn about yourself, expand your options, and make your dreams a reality.
Outside of work, I love singing karaoke, a cappella, playing piano, trying delicious foods, traveling, spending time with my family and adorable dog Foxy, and participating in my church community.
I’d love to partner with you on your career journey!
MY COACHING METHOD
-
FOCUS
It all starts with setting aside focused time to cut out distractions so you can learn to listen to yourself. Only then can you get direction and clarity on what your goals are.
-
REFLECT AND EXPAND
I’ll create space for you to reflect on what truly motivates you, what brings you joy at work, what values are important to you, and what’s blocking you from becoming the leader you want to be. I’ll ask you inspiring questions to help expand the possibilities.
-
ONE STEP FORWARD
I’ll keep you accountable. I’ll partner with you to take baby (or giant!) steps to get you closer to an outcome that brings you joy and meaning.
